James L. Dobrolvolny
Mr. Dobrovolny is a partner with Reimer Dobrovolny & LaBardi PC. Prior to joining RDL, he operated his own firm, Dobrovolny Law Offices, in Urbana, Illinois where he focused on the representation of Illinois police and fire pension boards.
Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Dobrovolny began practice with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office prosecuting environmental cases in the Chicago-land area. In 1977, he became an Assistant State’s Attorney for Champaign County, Illinois, prosecuting major felony cases. In 1979, Jim opened his own office in Urbana, Illinois. Mr. Dobrovolny became affiliated with the Illinois Public Pension Fund Association (“IPPFA”) since its inception. Since then, Jim has argued several cases of first impression regarding public pension matters. Prior to joining RDL, Mr. Dobrovolny had represented approximately 50 different fire and police pension boards in various matters. Mr. Dobrovolny lectures and presents across Illinois at IPPFA seminars, Certified Trustee Training sessions, web-based Trustee Training seminars, and Annual Training Conferences. He also consults with various police and firefighter pension boards as Deputy General Counsel to IPPFA on a variety of public pension issues. Today, Jim’s practice almost exclusively focuses on representing Illinois police and firefighter public pensions. Mr. Dobrovolny is a 1970 graduate of the College of Engineering, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is a 1975 graduate of the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Dobrovolny is a member of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys and the Illinois State Bar Association. Jim and his wife, Katie, have adult twin sons and reside in Champaign, Illinois. |
